New clamp arrived in the post today...Need a new seatpost to compliment it now. 30.9 posts are proving hard to find...leaning towards a Thompson at the moment (will just have to take lunch to work for a week rather than buy from the bakery in order to save ;) ).

That clamp looks sweet! What is it?

It never even occurred to me that there might be good looking quick release seat clamps out there.

KCNC, they make a bunch of random stuff. You can't beat salsa or hope though.

Great looking bike, reigns are mad.
Mountain Cycle: It's basically a bomb shelter with wheels, nothing short of a Chuck Norris round house kick can stop it.                                                     Or move it...

I actually thought it was a Hope seat post clamp at the first glimpse.

A Hope clamp crossed my mind - but for the price, I could not let the KCNC get away.

Unfortunately it is not the same shade of gold as the Kronos top cap and bottle cage bolts - but it shall do :)

Thomson post ordered today :)

Was going to get a matching stem as well, but holding off for a few weeks.

Where you at the Servo in Mundaring on Friday by any chance. I had my Tranny out and was pumping the tyres up and swear this bike drove past in the back of a ute.
I'm just going to call him Crappy Chooky from now on.

Update:

Kronos Gold top cap - I purchased a red anodised one for another little project, then saw the gold and could not resist  :D

Race Face Evolve 690mm bars - Much lighter, 50mm wider than the existing bars - and I notice the difference!

Thomson Post - Engineering and Machining goodness!

As a result I have shed a little more weight off the bike. Not sure how much - still awaiting some scales to arrive. Also need a Thomson stem to match ;)

Further update...

As I mentioned earlier, I initially fitted a cheap 50mm stem to try for size. Whilst it was great for sharp steering, I found I was a bit too cramped up and thus feeling somewhat sore at the end of a long ride. Ended up getting a 70mm Thomson X4 stem. It's hard to believe that just 20mm extra length can make a huge difference in relation to comfort. Climbing hills has become a little easier again too :)

The forks have started to have a little play in them, more than likely to be the bushes. Also had some fluid come out of the valve when letting a bit of pressure out of them last week - I assume the seals have gone? So it seems the forks need some TLC - suggestions of where I should go? I would prefer somewhere with a quick turnaround time.

It did cross my mind to upgrade the forks, but this in most cases would require a new front wheel as I run standard QR hubs and most new forks have QR15 or 20 dropouts. I can't afford to upgrade both right now.

The rear shock also has a light knock when you lift the bike from the seat - as with the forks, the bushing (lower DU) has gone. I am awaiting a new Fox RP2 shock to arrive however.

The brakes are starting to feel pretty bad - require more force on the levers than usual. Going to have a shot at bleeding them myself (collecting a bleed kit on my way home this afternoon). This will give me an opportunity to finally shorten the hoses as well.

Bushings, mounting hardware and the bushing tool arrived today, so went about fitting the RP2 shock this evening.

Quickest and easiest job I have ever done on the bike....still needs to be tweaked to suit my weight - but there is a huge difference!
