One good Turner Hill deserves another
« on: February 04, 2010, 01:45:31 PM »
Discipline: All mountain
Where: Turner Hill Dwellingup
Date & Time: Sunday 7th of Feb. 10 am
Meeting Point(s): Carpark near the junction of Higgens and Kesner Rd
Shuttles/Volunteers: Pedal power only.
Maps: http://www.perthmtb.com/node/207
Extra Info; camping, parking, etc.: Watch out for the whales.

Okay, I haven't been there before to have one good Turner Hill, but you get the drift. I've got a heavier fork for my Reign and want to go abuse it a bit, and I've been meaning to ride Turner Hill for ages. The forecast is 27 degrees max with a chance of a morning shower, so it should be nice riding conditions.

We shall be prepared for sudden impact, and we'll make sure we don't offend any salty sea dogs.

I have one taker, and an inclination to head out to the south shore for a look see afterwards, I hear it's open now :)

My new cyclocross bike. Not really, Norco Manik. I'll train it down your way? I now live a life of student poverty.

As agreed I'll be bringing my Stiffee down down there in the morning. If you got a spare roller/minion for me to borrow for the back that'd be grand as I'm rather disappointed/frightened with the Vapor on pea gravel  ;D

We should be able to squeeze three in. I really need to get my trailer registered.

I've got a selection of tyres in the shed Nick, there'll be something to suit.

I have been developing my skills in the waistline expanding field, and I wish to rectify the situation, so I'll definitely be up for a ride next week Philly.

Turner Hill I likee. I saw more TTFs there I was too scared to try than I ever have on a DH track (of course, it is much longer). There are plenty of doubles there that are do or die, no casing or rolling or you end up in a viper pit. There are some crazy log rides, including a stepup onto a log, and a nice looking log that has a gap jump at the end that sneaks up on you (as Doug found out, but he very impressively made it safely).

I've newly put some U-turn domains on my Reign, and they made a huge difference, soaking up all sorts of abuse while still letting me pedal uphill, very pleased. I think I'll be visiting a lot more times, today was only really a sighter run, there'd heaps of stuff I'll have to work right up to trying.

Time to recycle a thread, I've just decided that I need to ride, and I'm wanting to go out to Turner Hill fairly early tomorrow morning to get a lap in before it gets too warm, anybody in?
