Gday
I have just moved down from Karratha and I am looking foward to trying out my Specialized 2008 Big Hit II that I brought but have only used a handfull of times due to work commitments and lack of tracks.

Having never liived in Perth before or for that matter most of WA can anybody recommned some tracks near Perth. I know about the goat farm and I am lookimng forward to riding it. Does the goat farm require any special membership ??

Cheers
and thanks.

No special membership for the Goat Farm, just turn up and push up. There are a selection of other trails around, but most of the better public ones are further South. One of the best things to do would be look at the organise a ride section of the forum, this will both let you know when rides are on that you could join in on, and the locations that most people go. Dwellingup is a location near to Perth popular for shuttle days.

Pile rd and Wellington mills are near Dardanup just east of Bunbury.
Best to hook up with someone to show you around for the 1st couple of times.

Keep an eye on the "Organise A Ride" threads.

They should make derailleur hangers in the shape of a bottle opener, everyone would carry a spare.

There is a thread on the Pemberton track (which I suppose you've found), it's in Pemberton, a town a few hundred km down south, and it's on swimming pool rd. There are instructions on how to find it on my posts in the thread.

I just went to Turner Hill yesterday, it's about 80km South of Perth on the road to Dwellingup (details here http://www.perthmtb.com/node/207), and South Shore is just the other side of Dwellingup in Baden Powell reserve, but I'm not quite sure where yet.

I’m saying this not knowing how much you enjoy pedalling, but a rip around Pile Rd on a Big Hit might be a bit of a task. It’s probably better ridden on a 5-6 inch trail bike, or a ridgid 29er Huh
5 minutes south of there is welli mills, which is probably a bit more suited to a big bike. Got a bit more gradient. I think there was some cats planning shuttles down there this weekend, have a looksee in the organise a ride thread

Thanks mate , being new tp the area I have no idea what the tracks are like. Having said that I cant go out anyway as I have just discovered that my red bolt on the bottom of my rock shock domains is missing and I am leaking oil out the bottom of it , I have no idea when it vanished so my shocks are too loose. Booked it in for a fix and service at Malaga Cycles on the 25 Feb when I get back from Karratha.

Cheers  Mate

I am away on site for 9 days getting back on the 23 Feb , then i have to get my shox fixed. I have a funny feeling that Malaga Cycles might not have the bolt in  store  and they might have to order it in as well as top up the oil  , in which case the bike can stay at the store as I cant ride it any way. So will see after the 25th feb.

Thanks
