+2 for doug, this is getting boring, if your aware of dates forward them in to the people organising the calender each year if it's of concern, its usually only a matter of at it least forwarding to a club president so it gets addressed.

+3 for Housey AND Doug. I believe I was responsible for forwarding the BMX calender. I can't check it atm but if such a big event was missed from the calender then who is to blame?

On that note, I think there is another event that will possibly expose the BMXers to 4X, and not just the hardcore types.

Cycling Australia anyone? Will that fix trying to co-ordinate multiple disciplines? I think not. The best that can be done has been.

Well done Doug.

Guys just to clarify, the BMX nationals in Shepparton is from May 5 thru 9 and my information has there is NO race on the 2nd to conflict with the Goatfarm 4x race on the same day.

Having said that the uptake of BMXers to the race would be limited because of:
a) travel to the nationals
b) not racing that weekend for fear of injury if travelling later in the week.

As VP of BMX Sports WA we are currently drafting the 2010/2011 season calendar which at this stage looks to be commencing in September 2010. It will be available on our website in the coming weeks for any gravity race planning next year. Will keep you posted on when its up

Cheers

Thank you very much for that Matt. We are very keen to see some to and fro between the codes.

Leon is dead on there boys and girls.

Why have all these clubs when we all want to race?  Combine them together then the rounds will be a lot more sorted out and not left till the last min.

I will help out any way I can, and I'm sure heaps of our mates will come down and help out for the day.

Why have all these clubs? Look at the size of the state and where the clubs are based, I'm not sure how one club can create an equally and fair representation for the regions there currently based in, Peel (PDMBC), South West (SWMBC), Great Southern (Albany), midwest (Geraldton), Metro (PMBC), Sounds to me as if people are only interested in a state with just a State Series DH Race community, that will never last, you need your clubs holding club races and fun day events around the state to bring the new riders yearly to the higher level, Albany being the best example of this, few years ago there was just a couple of them, now they fill a healthy percentage of races and kick some arse at the same time.

I can't see how one merged metropolitan DH club can attain the level required to grow the sport based on how the current demographic of riders are based as of 2010.

As it also stands right now, the other 3 clubs aside from perth have been in rebuilds for certain periods of time and have no such problem in attaining volunteers each year I've seen, and like all clubs you'll find the certain few who have done a bulk work load and I wouldn't imagine are about to dump what they've worked for on the old, when things go bad, just amalgamate for a quick fix, I can guarantee you would only see sub groups evolve in a short period of time there after anyway, it's happens every where. These are people who have also had to form very sturdy relationships with DEC or Local Government in their said areas in the absence of WAMBA over the past few years, as has pmbc with metropolitan projects and are probably well invested with what they're doing an would want to continue that pathway forward for their members.

You're asking a lot from people who have done good things with their areas and their clubs when they're not having any problems plodding along on their merry way.

Its true.
there has been a lot of rebuiling of clubs over the last few years.
Now WAMBA is rebuilding from scratch.

Step back and give a little time for all the new faces(volunteers) to come up to speed and we are sure to see huge gains everwhere.

Just maybe its time that PMTBC needs some rebuilding atm.

My thoughts.

And from tonight it has begun. Some fresh faces, some not so, looking to move onwards and upwards.
