hydrolic and normal brakes
« on: March 11, 2010, 10:05:15 AM »
G'day all, just a quick question to pick your brains with.

I have a 2009 model ryder norco bike.  I am wanting hydraulic brakes for it in the very near future, but atm I was thinking about just getting one set for the rear and keeping my fronts as is for a little while.  Just wondering if this is a good idea?  Will it work?  Pros and cons???

Any help would be appreciated.
cheers
Dk

would'nt it be better to get the better brakes for the front first???

Cable brakes are ok, I'd wait until there's a deal going on Torpedo 7, (use the link on the front page), on sets as you'll get them a lot cheaper.

Get the best brakes you can on the back and just flick the front in the bin, after all, you only use them to do fleshy fleshy boon skids
I call it this emotion plebbed. I picked this word as it isn't a word in the dictionary and i want to claim it lol.

What style of riding are you doing with it? For gravity racing you should have the good brake on the front, for dirt jump and skate park most people only run the rear brake. Personally I have the same hydraulic brake front and back on my skate park bike.

Put the caliper from the front brake on the rear then, and the hydraulic on the front. The back brake is less important than the front whenever you're pointing down a hill at speed. The difference between your brakes at the moment could just be the cable or the pads or even the alignment with the disc.
