Rays place is one of the few plusses that moving to America would have. I haven't seen that room before, it's bloody awesome. Now I just want to go build a bigger shed so that I can put that in it.

Actually, hmmmmmm, I wonder if a dirt jump park in a circle like that would work?

Can you tell if they're riding chainless? I think they are.

Who would pay to use a facility like that here though? I've thought about it as a business idea, many, many times.

One of them is chainless I think, the bloke that does the cranks in mid air, but I don't think many of the others are.

There has been two indoor skate parks in Perth that I know of, God park http://www.skateboard.com.au/fusebox/index.cfm?smithgrind=view&id=699 and Vertigo http://www.skateboard.com.au/fusebox/index.cfm?smithgrind=view&id=675

Both of them are closed, which is a shame, I would have liked to have ridden Vertigo. I happened to meet the owner of Vertigo in a Skate park a few years ago, and he said that he just couldn't keep up with the rising insurance costs at the time. The riding scene in Perth seems to have expanded since then, perhaps if you could find a place near a train station things might be viable now. I'd certainly pay to ride wooden ramps.

There's some indoor places in Melbourne going gangbusters that I've heard of.

It'd be interesting to work out what it would cost to run, after your intial set-up costs would stay pretty low i'd imagine.
The indoor beach volleyball centre down here makes a killing charging $10 a game, and it's only open 5 days a week if that?
If you had a membership option as well, say you pay a certain amount for 6 months membership or so, you'd attract regulars who pull in extra people.
I would agree Insurance would be the killer though. The U.S. have no such insurance problems, same for New Zealand.
at first i was scared as hell, then i hardened up, let off the brakes, and booooo000oooned down the hill weeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Insurance isn't as bad as it was for a while there after  9 11. Why don't they have problems in the US and New Zealand Will?

I just checked out some warehouse prices & a decent sized unit is $60 - $100k a year. While door fees would make up some of the revenue you'd have to make up a lot in snacks, drinks, merchandise & maybe a spare parts shop.

I have thought about this quite a lot...

How long ago was it that Vertigo shut up shop? It was more than 5 years ago wasn't it...
I can remember 10 plus years ago there was a surfshop in Bunno that had a sweet indoor park out the back and a big halfie out in the carpark. I don't think they ran into insurance issues, I think Doug, the owner just wanted to get out on his goat boat everyday. Ray's indoor reminds me very much of that set up, only about 50 gazillion times larger.

It would make sense looking into it further if we lived in a location where we got snowed in over winter

I call it this emotion plebbed. I picked this word as it isn't a word in the dictionary and i want to claim it lol.
