Ground Effects Slush Fund
« on: January 05, 2009, 12:22:43 PM »
http://www.groundeffect.co.nz/advocacy.htm
Might be worth a look:

"Since Adam rode a hard-tail, Ground Effect has provided foot soldiers and cold cash for the cycling revolution. Each year we hand out thousands of dollars from our 'Slush Fund' to help local track builders expand the mountain bike playground. And Ground Effect staff work with other advocates and land managers on local issues and national campaigns like the battle to reclaim access to the Heaphy.

If your club has a worthy project that needs funds to make it real, bang a note to slushfund@groundeffect.co.nz. We seldom say no and we don't require you to jump through endless bureaucratic hoops so it's generally worth your while to flick us a brief proposal. As a guideline we feel good about supplementing public money and/or voluntary labour with cash to buy materials or hire equipment – which generally translates into handouts of up to a $1000 for any single project. We end up funding a lot of bridges and scrub cutters!

Ground Effect also holds stock of IMBA's two excellent trail building books – 'Trail Solutions and 'Natural Surface Tracks by Design'. If your club or organisation is involved in trail work, then talk to us about getting your hands on a copy."

I've sent them an email before about getting some sponsorship for the site & didn't get a reply, I might try again.

They should make derailleur hangers in the shape of a bottle opener, everyone would carry a spare.

I've sent off a begging letter too, to try & get some funding for a ladder at Canning Mills and material for portable structures for trials & northshore.

I keep getting a message saying the email has been delayed, I got the same thing from them before. Has anyone managed to get an email through to them? I've sent a message through their website to let them know I'm having problems with their email addresses in case hucktoflat.com is on a blacklist somewhere.

SWMTB has just recieved some trailbuilding books from the slush fund.
They also said they are happy to help with funding for trails in our area.

God I wish there were more helpful funding groups like ground effect. They deserve a medal.

Mountain Cycle: It's basically a bomb shelter with wheels, nothing short of a Chuck Norris round house kick can stop it.                                                     Or move it...
